On July 13th, 2025, the DRI is looking forward to welcoming you at our 2025 Dream Research Symposium at the DRI’s venue in Little Venice.
The day’s full program is now live on the event page, and includes:
• A dream matrix session led by the DRI director, Dave Billington
• Two presentations on the therapeutic applications of lucid dreaming led by DRI co-founders, Nigel Hamilton and Melinda Powell
• Research presentations by recent graduates from CCPE’s MA
• A dream salon led by Prof. Mark Blagrove and Prof. Julia Lockheart from DreamsID

Join me for a talk on “From Fear to Freedom in Lucid Dreaming: A Jungian Perspective”, where we’ll be looking at lucid dreaming as a tool for to help us move through our fears and to heal the emotional effects of past traumas.

We’ll approach this topic from a Jungian perspective, drawing on Jung’s personal experience of visionary dreams and the practice of Creative Imagination which he developed from it. We will also review research that has tested the effectiveness of treating nightmares through engaging the Creative Imagination across a spectrum of lucid awareness.

Melinda Powell, MA Psychology of Religion, co-founded the Dream Research Institute, London, with Dr. Nigel Hamilton. Past vice-president of IASD and former director of the DRI, she now teaches and writes about dreams. See “The Hidden Lives of Dreams” (Bonnier Books UK, 2019) and “Lucid Surrender: The Alchemy of the Soul in Lucid Dreaming” (Archive Publishing 2021). Her newest book, “Dreams My Mother Taught Me: Lessons in Lucid Dreaming from Beyond the Grave” is available from June, 2025 (Archive Publishing).

I look forward to sharing the day with you!
